Located in the middle of Cat Ba National Park, on a forest road from the center of the National Park to Viet Hai commune (Cat Hai district), Frog Pond is an interesting destination for many visitors.
How to get to Frog Pond?
From the center of Cat Ba National Park, moving over a distance of about 2 km paved under the canopy of dense forest foliage, to the foot of Anh Rang slope is the beginning of the journey to conquer the long, steep, mountainous forest road, more than 9 km to reach Viet Hai commune - the farthest commune of Cat Hai island district. Pass Anh Rang slope and May Bau to get to Me Go valley.
From here, follow the trail. If you are lucky, you can see the silver cheeks wandering foraging, transient silhouette or the naughty squirrels pass back and forth on the branches of old trees.
What to explore in the Frog Pond?
Frog Pond is located halfway up the mountain at an altitude of 80 meters above sea level. The pond is 3.2 hectares and changes with the seasons. In the dry season, the pond bed shrinks but never runs out of water. In the rainy season, the water from the rocks flows down to make the pond wider, seeing only a vast sky, forest, and watercolor.
The pond is not very deep, only about 50-60 cm. The bottom of the pond is a thick layer of mud caused by branches and leaves falling and decomposing. From the bottom, there are thousands of trees and water rose - a species found only in the Frog Pond. The tree is 5-10 meters high, rough sheath grows in clusters.
In winter, the pond water is relatively warm, and in the summer, it is cool.
In short, Frog Pond is an appealing spot that you can see when taking Orchid Cruise 2 days 1 night.
